Changers (BSR, Dual, Garrard, …) are a special breed of vintage turntables and for this reason many manufacturers recommend a special type of oil for its main spindle. Also known as “point of loss lubrication” this specialty oil contains a unique tackifier component that will help it stick to vertical bearing surfaces typical of changer spindles. Yet some “tackified” oils are too aggressive for our liking creating unnecessary drag. Our adhesive oils are well balanced between tackiness and performance and is being offered in two different compositions: Mineral and Synthetic Blend.
Mineral Spindle Oil for Changers: For the purists who follow manufacturers recommendations at the time. A well known oil, Renotac 342, is a mineral oil with tackifier component that is no longer available. This oil would be today’s equivalent.
Synthetic Blend Spindle Oil for Changers: Slightly reduced “tackiness” compared to the mineral option above and with a synthetic component added to the mix for improved overall properties making it today’s enhanced version.
